The Sheena Booth Music Trust was founded in January 2003 in memory of Sheena, a much loved music teacher who lived and worked in north east London. She played flute, piano and viola with infectious enthusiasm, as well as being a fine singer. Sheena died of cancer at the end of 2002, and the Trust aims to continue her work of furthering the musical development of children and young people.
The Trust is a registered charity which currently distributes around £25,000 a year
to a dozen or so projects in north and east London. It expects to continue this
level of funding at least until mid 2009; this has enabled us to develop good and
close relations with the projects we sponsor and offer them some stability of funding.
Further details are given on the projects page, and you can also download our annual
reports or view them on-
The Trust is managed on a voluntary basis by five Trustees: Janie Andrews, Deborah Behrman (secretary), Edmund Booth (chair and treasurer), Rachel Douglas and Baerbel Grange. We have three distinguished patrons, all called John and all close (and lifelong) friends of Sheena’s (see pictures below). They are more than just distinguished figureheads; all three are giving us active and valuable support. We are also very grateful to our honorary accountant, Andrew Marflow for his invaluable financial advice and support.
All donations, large or small, are most gratefully received, since they enable our work to continue. Send cheques payable to ‘The Sheena Booth Music Trust’ to the treasurer, at the address below. UK tax payers who fill in the gift aid form also help us greatly; as a registered charity, we received over £3,000 back from the Government in this way last year. Standing Order forms can also be downloaded.
